Almost every state in the country allows for concealed carry, either permitless or with a permit. State regulations relating to the issuance of concealed carry permits generally fall into four categories: Unrestricted, Shall Issue, May Issue, and No Issue.
Most states in the U.S. maintain a shall-issue policy, but it can vary significantly by state.
Attending CCW and CHL licensing programs is considered the first step in personal safety, protection, and self-defense with a firearm. In addition, some states require concealed carry applicants to certify their proficiency through structured training or classroom instruction.
The National Rifle Association has developed specific training courses to combine classroom instruction with hands-on live-fire instruction that meets many state requirements. In a CCW or CHL licensing program, you might learn things like:
These classes vary in length and curriculum, depending on state requirements. However, most courses can be completed in hours and are designed to give CCW and CHL license holders a working knowledge of owning and operating a gun.
But what happens after that? How can you continue your training tangibly to become a confident and responsible gun owner?
While EVR does not offer the preliminary CCW and CHL classes necessary to get licensure, we offer various courses that help build upon your firearm education. In addition, our hands-on training facility allows students to engage in lifelike scenarios that build confidence and improve reflexes and split-second decision-making skills.
Below are just a few of the relevant courses offered by EVR for individuals interested in learning more about gun ownership:
Intro to Gun Ownership - Get answers to all your gun ownership questions before you ever take the leap. Build confidence in your ability to shop for a handgun and pass your CCW course.
Carry with Confidence - This course is designed to help build upon shooting fundamentals and help build your confidence as a newly licensed gun owner. This optional multi-part training series also tackles home and personal property, public spaces, vehicles, and other extended training scenarios.
Just because you attained your license doesn't mean you've gained the confidence to be a responsible gun owner. Further, your training in an environment made for shooters to develop their skills and feel supported every step of the way.
We applaud you for taking the first step. Check out the upcoming class schedules at our EVR location nearest to you.
